Dragon Whisperer

Today I successfully negotiated with an adult blue dragon. Saving many lives in the town of Greenest.

After narrowly avoiding a trap at the mill, we returned to the keep only to find Governor Nighthill once again in a tizzy. The great blue dragon was lazily wheeling overhead casually destroying the town, and he asked that we go to the ramparts and bolster the troops there. Unfortunately, dragons are freaking terrifying, even for me, an expert in these things. Obviously the dragons magical emanations stirred a primal fear. Otherwise I am sure I would have stood firm. Eventually, through my superior willpower, I freed myself from his dreadful grasp and bravely mounted the highest point of the wall. A clever bit of flattery and majestic beast took flight back to his lair to count his coins. I was sure that we would have been met with jubilation, but once again the Governor needed us to intervene. A great many townsfolk are barricaded inside the chapel and surrounded by hostile forces. We stealthily approached and discovered three groups attempting to breach the solid stone structure. Luckily it is sturdy of build and attempts to set it ablaze have failed. We must find some way to liberate the besieged townsfolk before their redoubt is breached.

In speaking to Jimmy, the prisoner we took without the use of undue force, we have learned quite a bit. The group that is attacking is part of The Cult of the Dragon. They are collecting loot for "the great Horde" that they hope will summon the Queen of Dragons. We also learned the location of their encampment nearby, but also revealed a bigger secret. They have in their possession several viable dragon eggs. We also were charged preventing to mill from being burned down. Upon arriving we realized that it was a clumsy trap, probably hastily arranged to kill the heroes that had been harrassing the invaders (that would be us apparently). Realizing that their attempts to burn the mill was a trap, and that instead several snipers were hidden within... we just barred the door and waited for reinforcements. (OK that's not EXACTLY how it went, but I do feel it is prudent to save my compatriots egos a little. Who hasn't worked a campfire before?)

A mighty blue dragon circles over the town of Greenest while an organized group of Dragon worshipers sack the town. We attempted to sneak into town but were detected and several skirmishes ensued. We managed to rescue a family that was fleeing the ravaging invaders and escorted them to the keep. The mayor asked us to help them with several missions. We used a forgotten tunnel to access the town, now in flames, and captured a prisoner.

We were able to capture a prisoner from one of the assault teams without using violence. The young man seemed to be eager to please his superiors, but not an ideologue. It is unlikely that he will have much information of great value, however I hope that we can still get some idea of the nature of the assault. This is beginning to make me suspicious of the power structure of the invaders. There are obviously a group of Dragon worshippers at work, but how has this group managed to recruit a Blue dragon of this power to it’s cause. The group is relatively young, and it seems suspicious that they would have enough sway to recruit what I can only assume is an Adult blue dragon who I can imagine has motive of his own. I would love to get a chance to speak to the Big blue, but that seems unlikely and quite dangerous. However if presented with the opportunity, it could shed some much needed light on the situation.

I have been exchanging letters with Alaric Amakir concerning dragons. An elven warrior-scholar he has an insatiable curiosity. He has asked to meet in person to discuss some troubling rumors he has beard related to a dragon cult, and I have agreed to meet him outside Greenest. I hope that we do not need his sword arm, but I fear that a storm is about to roll over the picturesque hills of Greenest.
