In the beginning - FIGHT!
The group arrived at the Isle of Bonmu, or Danger Island, to attend the Ruby Phoenix Tournament. After an introduction by some old man we were sent to clear out our assigned "residence". We were told that each team needed to take anything that was offered, including the silver feathers that we need to find and keep. We would need a total of 10 feathers to proceed further from this prequalifier. The 1st eight teams to present feathers in the next 3 days would continue on. Our residence was the Temple of Irori. Before we could head out we were accosted by some guy who wanted to have a "friendly" side match. While some of us discussed how to handle this in Orcish, Escanor scared him off with a few terse words. He was obviously not worth the effort anyhow! We then had our guide, Ingdani, guide us to the temple. Arriving at the temple we were accosted by 2 Goliath Spiders. We handily beat them down & then cleared some webbing before heading inside. Opening the outer doors we found a room with paintings of a faceless man all around the room. A small creature looked up as we entered the room. Hott Maass was able to tell this was an Anugobu Wondercrafter. He introduced himself as Ahmitar. As we spoke with it, Xurek began exploring forward. Soon he found some ghostly Monks to fight! We ran to help. It turned out the Ghosts were not too strong and we easily defeated them. We then took a bit of time to question Ahmitar about the rest of the place. He was able to tell us that there was seemingly nothing in the sleeping areas to the south, some sort of ghostly creatures to the north and some sor tof dog-like creature in a pool to the east. We chose to check out the sleeping area. We found some loot in chests and that the sleeping beds in there were basically all rotted away. We spoke with Ahmitar again and got him to help us clean up/burn the beds. We then headed over to the north to check out that area. It turned out that a haunt was present here. We managed to avoid it, realizing we could speak a prayer to Irori to cause the Haunt to temporarily dissipate. We did this and found some treasure in a pantry off of this common eating area & kitchen. We left the Haunt alone after that. We then turned our attention to the east and the dog-like creature in the pool. As we entered the room it rose out of the far side of the pool & breathed on us, damaging most of the party, Xurek in particular. As we waded into the fray we found this was a much harder creature than any we had fought by far. It took us aback, dropping Fei Malei and almost dropping most of us. After a hard fought battle we finally managed to defeat the creature, which we were able to identify as a Catoblepas. We took some time to fall back and heal up after the fight.
