Session VI: The Druid At Thundertree Ruins

General Summary

After Harbin Wester stopped by Stonehill Tavern for breakfeast then used the restroom, leaving the entire ground floor reeking with a stench that could have made Velsharoon cover his mouth in disgust, those of the party not sleeping the morning after the previous Wyvern Tor raid set out into the nearby Neverwinter Wood in search of some fresh game (and air).   By the time Ahmlodi, Mischief and Norril returned to the Stonehill Tavern, Westris had arisen from his slumber. The group took a brief respite while further processing and preserving their catch using the inns' kitchen. They then gathered their equipment once again and set out for Thundertree Ruins in search of the Druid Reidoth. With some searching the ruined buildings of the town, they discover some Twig Blights inhabitating some overgrown stone building foundations. Individually these make for little threat, but in their numbers they surround members of the party and manage to land a few scratches with their sharpened wooden claws before finally being cut down by a combination of greatsword cleaves from Westris, roaring fire blasts from Barnaby, and precision swordswomanship from Mischief.   Exploring further, Westris finds an more-or-less intact building that appeared to be lit inside by flickering candlelight. The rest of the party gathered and he knocked on the door, which was answered by the erstwhile druid. Westris asked what he was doing in such a clearly benighted and dangerous place. Reidoth answered that he was a member of the Emerald Enclave, a circle of rangers and druids active across Faerûn that seek to maintain natural balance. As many of these entities are products of fell influence left behind by the Spellplague, he claimed, they do not belong in the natural order for and must be banished or destroyed for local balance to be restored.   Reidoth noted that among the threats they had already encountered in the town ruins thus far, there were also giant spiders, a green dragon named Venomwing in the church tower at the center north of the town, and some humanoid cultists that had recently taken up residence in one of the southeasternmost buildings and worshipping Venomwing as a demigod (though seemingly not interacting with him).
