Tales from the Overlands Vol XIII: Rise of Heroes

A Dungeons & Dragons 5e game In the world of Gaelaria
| Looking for Players
This Chronicle documents the period of time when The Overlands was threatened by a second Scourge Blight. One of the featured tales is that of the brave adventurers who stopped The Scourge, as the original Vægarek warriors once did during the first Scourge Blight.   DMs Note: For optimal experience of the story, I encourage you to not look at the full articles of the characters, until later in the story or even after we finish the run of our sessions. This is just because you're likely to learn parts of their backstory throughout the campaign. The bits of information available to you aren't essential to the campaign, and that's why I've left it publicly available in case you want to learn more about the characters yourself (if you want extra personal knowledge that's separate from your character's knowledge).   The other types of articles are all fine to read through though, as they cover the general history of region, it's cities, and it's culture. This would all be general knowledge that your characters would already be aware of in-game.

Supporting Cast
  • "Bob" Brochqeh Jagged-Maw
Bob is one of the two remaining members of clan Jagged-Maw (Frax being the other). He's grouchy and full of pride, rejecting any attempts of kindness from his captors.
  • Butterbean
Butterbean is Matthias' loyal steed. The two have a very strong bond and have been through a lot of hardships together. She's smarter than your average horse, and is quite courageous. If Matthias is in trouble, she's not afraid to enter the fray and kick a few enemies in the face. However, she's still a horse and can still be spooked if she keeps getting attacked, in which she will then run away. Matthias will then have to go looking for her to treat her wounds and calm her down.
  • Elihava Reyna
Elihava is one of the barkeeps at The Singing Salamander. In contrast to Salaek, she has a friendly demeanor from the moment you meet her (so long as you're well-mannered). She has no trouble engaging in small talk, and listening to her patrons' tales of triumph or defeat. However, she has never seemed to open up about her own experiences, and always manages to subtly shift topics when the spotlight is on her. Perhaps you may be able to learn about her background if her trust is built over time?
  • Frax Jagged-Maw
Young, naive goblin who wants to befriend everyone and everything. He's easily frightened by combat, but will still try to be a helpful companion to his newfound friends.
  • Matthias
Your current employer. He'll leave most of the fighting up to you, his employees, but he's willing to lend a hand when your outnumbered. Despite him missing his right arm, he's still more than competent in battle. Outside of battle he's patient, good-humoured and quite talented with the panflute.
  • Salaek
The owner of The Singing Salamander. At times he can come off as quite guarded and prickly, but he never fails to look after his patrons, always ensuring they leave well-fed and well-rested.
  • The Collector
This elderly halfling is obnoxious and rude. He's obsessed with having the best collection of artifacts (and junk) in all of Arlington Isle, and has a particular interest in cutlery, only accepting the most exquisite sets into his collection. He's often seen having spats with shopkeepers over the quality of their wares.
