Session Log: The Vandal and the Thief

General Summary

8th Day of the Month of Winds

Galen Ordesza , tasked by his father Alaric , is in charge of looking into the vandalism of the Bingtown Cathedral Construction Yard. To do so, he recruits a small team of acquaintances to complement his skills as they investigate the site.   After a chaotic introduction, featuring a Halfling Bard power ballad with flying middle fingers, the party set out to investigate. Hatise gave the fence surrounding the yard a skilful appraisal and identified several possible flaws, then spoke with the guards under the guise of being a member of the Order of the Hammer. This failed however, and they were not permitted entrance and re-joined the party as they set off to examine the perimeter.   It did not take long until Freja and Hatise noticed that a section of the barbed wire fence had been compromised by a rope, and the party proceeded to climb over. Peter chose this moment to execute a triple backflip, and nailed it. Galen took so long that he was partially spotted by some drunken pedestrians. On the other side of the fence, they removed the rope - which was fastened on the yard side - and set out to explore the cathedral itself through a door left ajar.   Within, they found a small servants side room, lit by a single dingy candle. They hung out here for a while before they realised their vandals had arrived and found the rope missing. A series of hijinks, and then the rope was thrown back over just as they were getting ready to leave. The party then hid in the servants room, poorly. Hatise jumped out and attempted to arrest them, receiving laughter. Things escalated, a knife was thrown by a Changeling at Freja, who took said knife and promptly fucked up said Changeling and earned herself the title of Spleen Stealer. Peter was sent to grab the Hammers, unknowing that doing so was basically a death sentence. Hatise and Galen discussed this fact, and decided their death was their own fault.   When the Hammers returned, revealing their names to be Heimlich and Heathcliffe, they took the Changelings into custody and advised the group to leave. Unfortunately, the party travelled deeper into the cathedral out of curiosity, eventually leading Galen stood red-handed with the Erathian Holy Book, as if poised to steal it. Following the confrontation, Galen was disowned by his family. The party was barred from entering Old Town, and Hatise suspended from his apprenticeship with the Gears. Infuriated, the party end up at the Shadow Slayers Guild and are harassed by Hoberto , before being advised to kit up and do some easy escort jobs by Bellas.   Looking for an investor, Hatise recalls a connection his family have, Sonia Stubt, a distributor of goods amongst the Newbloods. An unsavoury character due to her reputation as a slave owner and seller, she is nevertheless eager to outfit the party with some decent gear. She charged an interest rate of 2.5 points on a weekly basis, compounded.   Session ending with everyone deciding how much debt they would get into.
