TOL S8 E3 "Stars Over The Sands"

General Summary

Upon escaping the Pyramid of Sethenes II, the party met with the last of the Frosted Gold Company men guarding the Pyramid and negotiated a peace between the two sides. Aurelia and Sisa Taril asked Lyle and Fenrir to give them the Fang of Huxenotizhuatli so they could save their sibling Malita Taril, who was in a zombified state and still trapped in the pyramid. They offered to go in alone, as their bargain had been fulfilled. Fenrir and Lyle responded negatively to their request, going so far as to suggest they be grateful they were able to rescue one of their siblings. This triggered the grief-stricken Aurelia who banished Coriander of Medb and Lyle and ordered Fenrir to give her the Fang. Fenrir told her he would fight her for it, and combat began. Sisa cast hold person on Fenrir and got the bag of holding off him. They then ran back to the pyramid and entered the pyramid. Lyle and Coriander were released and tried to pursue, but Aurelia threw up a wall of force to block their path. Lyle and Fenrir then decided to stake out the pyramid for their return and attack and kill them when they saw them again. 12 hours passed and the trio saw the rest of the FGC led by Lyra White leave the pyramid. Lyra warned Fenrir about pissing off the FGC and that they might pursue them and send assassins after him. Lyra and the rest of FGC left the pyramid. That night, the party's campfire exploded as an image of Fenrir's father, Odoacer, appeared before them. He told Fenrir to surrender himself to Fenrir's ancestral home Windbarrow Keep at Skrattafell within the year or he would kill Fenrir and everyone he love and every mortal on the Material Plane. Fenrir and Lyle woke the next morning and waited to think what they needed to do next. They decided to leave the pyramid instead of staking out the Tarils and returning to Jeharoa. Lyle cast windwalk and the trio flew southwest to try and find Jeharoa. Without a map, they went to Chelmaea and made camp. The next day, the 26th, they cast windwalk again and flew to Jeharoa, only to find the city under siege. They landed outside the city at the Frosted Gold Company Excavation Site to try to see about getting into the Gate of Skulls. They spied on Safaar Qosaariya eld-Sadek and Zuvair ban Qorel discuss the excavation and their plans for the siege. Deciding they wanted to get more info; specifically from Cato Durthane, whom was the lead scholar on the excavation; they tried to get into the city but the city's wards caused their teleportation and polymorph spells to fail. They were discovered and attempted to hide but were found by the Brotherhood of Bronze and the FGC whom had sworn themselves to the Kingdom. Fenrir was taken to Venato House in the Pilgrim Quarter for questioning. Fenrir refused to answer Captain Miglio Grimbaldi's questions and in a brief fight, incapacitated Miglio. They negotiated passage to the Bronze Barracks but were instead brought before Magister Aubrette. Aubrette gave them more information, and told them Cato was being held by the Brotherhood as his capture would be a boon for the Grand Army of the Dragon. She told them she could relay messages to Cato in exchange for Miglio's release. She also said if the party would be willing to swear allegiance to the Pilgrim States, they would be granted pardons, a salary of 2 gold per day of the siege, food and lodging, in exchange for service in the Pilgrim military. The pair reluctantly agreed, were brought before Queen Theodosia I, swore their oaths, and signed letters of marque indenturing them to the Pilgrims. Lord Commander Sir Gundaric of Angessier offered them a mission to prove themselves to his order that evening and Fenrir surmised that Gundaric knew Pox, the doppelganger that had tried to steal the party's bag of holding. They were then brought to the Olive Cup where they met up with Coriander whom knew the bartender Reverence Damron. Reverence gave the pair some gossip about the city and its denizens. The party decided to agree to Gundaric's offer and planned to volunteer for Gundaric's mission that evening.
