Session 0: Introduction to the New World Report

General Summary

On board the Merlion's Favour, the party got to know each other.   A day's travel out of Palath's Landing, the ship came under attack by pirates roving the coast. Under heavy attack, the adventurers went on deck and contributed decisively to the defense of the ship.   The paladin, Rah'len, fought on the front lines against the pirates, taking their crossbowmen out of action with his self-sacrifice as he was knocked unconcious. The brawler, Bob Rojers, also stood his ground against cutlass wielding pirates, stopping their blades with his forearms more than his shield.   The pirates took heavy losses and were forced off from their boarding attempt, but not before the Merlion's Favour was heavily damaged. With one lifeboat burned by Xal's alchemical bombs, the other travellers fled, but the captain of the ship asked the adventurers to remain to help bring the ship to shore as best as they could.   Working through the night in a growing storm, they were able to keep the ship afloat despite the battle damage, ultimately grounding it on rocks on a northern part of the coast.   As many of the crew abandoned the wreck, the party chose to venture in land with the captain and a few of his most loyal crew, heading south on the crude roads carved through the jungle. The captain warned the party of tribespeople, known to attack caravans and groups heading by road.
