Session 54: Mountain Politics Report

General Summary

Meeting the Ancestors

The party, after spending time in town recuperating from their long, arduous journey, were called by Bror, Thrack 's elder brother to meet with the Ancestors, the mysterious entities who ruled over Priom Crana.   Once brought inside by Karadok , the High Overseer. He gave them portions of Ancestors' Draught to consume before showing them into the audience chamber.   Once the door was sealed, the Ancestors manifested, a cloud of mist and fog occasionally manifesting into a more solid spirit form.   The Ancestors emphasised the fact that Priom Crana had never moved and should never move If food was needed it would be found in the mountains or those there would suffer and die. But that would be if that was how it was.   They seemed unconcerned by the threat posed by The Serpentine Collective, and the upshot of the conversation was that, even if they did want to have peace and an alliance they would need to meet with Vorsygnar , the Seventh Seat on their council, who helps to keep the mountains safe.   They also expressed concern about the Yeti taking the Ancestors' draught, but despite seeming dissent in their ranks they agreed that this was something that the Giants should deal with.   With that, the discussion was drawn to a close and the group left the temple of the Ancestors.   As they were leaving they enquired of the the Overseer who might be able to tell them further about the history of the Yeti in the mountains. They were told to speak with

Advice from the Annorlunda

Returning to the centre of Herin, the party returned to their lodging to find Bror drinking with a black dragonborn,
" href="/w/meterra-betaroyal/a/andrak-barella-article">Andrak .   Andrak was very convivial and happy to discuss with them the nature of Yetis. He informed them of the fact that Yeti used to be a part of giant culture but were cast out many aeons ago, along with their equivalent of an ancestor, Scodorm .   He was concerned that the yeti may be attempting to bring him back in order to reassert their power and gain some respect, and suggested the party might want to look into that.   He also stated that if it was their intent to visit Vorsygnar , they had best be cautious as he is not a creature that readily accepts guests, and those who had gone there in the past usually ended up within his belly.

Encountering the Seething Blizzard

The party therefore made their preparations, and set off to see Vorsygnar, the ancient dragon living in these mountains.   The journey was uneventful, and the two day hike to his high peaked lair was much easier than the journey into the mountains, as if the mountains were happy to let them go.   Arriving there they found an icy tunnel in floor, and, dropping into it they found themselves face to face with the massive creature.   Initially it was bemused by their approach, deeming them unworthy of consumption being so small and unsatisfying to consume. It informed them that it grew tired of the giants not sending it food, as had been previously agreed, and it wanted to consume them once again. If they were to disable their defences it would show them its form of gratitude.   Tarvy, however, seeing how the conversation was going, turned to flee. To the hunter Vorsygnar, this was like a red rag to a bull and he leapt forward in pursuit as the party ran, the majority of them able to teleport away.   Gortan was able to spot a cave and Tarvy and Hal to slow the creature as it pressed towards them (Tarvy summoning Charon to aid them). they sprinted for cover just as the creature's icy breath bore down upon them. Cowering in the cave, however, they were largely spared, with only Tarvy, Blaize and Thrack bearing the brunt of it, with Blaize being rendered entirely unconscious. Fortunately the rest of the group were able to drag him into a side passage and revive him, as they heard the dragon's feral growl grow furious at the demon attacking its flank and thrashing and roaring, trees being crushed to splinters as it went. They felt they had a moment's reprieve.   As they were gathering themselves, they heard a voice emanating from the tunnel ahead, and emerging was the Yeti who previously had so nearly killed Hal, it said, in broken common "Please come...people need help...you help...please."   The party must now decide their next move.
