Session 3: Town by the Woods

General Summary

The group made their way to Woodhovel with little trouble thanks to the army patrolled roads. In 3 1/2 days they arrived to the small lumbering town. Walking in midday, the streets were fairly empty. All except for a good many people gathered in front of the Garuda Museum. People seemed fairly excited so the most of the party decided to investigate. Aside from Rusty who decided to go and check up with some friends at the local tavern, the Tacky Chestplates.   With the tavern not being very busy it was easy for Rusty to find a moment to talk to Kay, one of the two waitresses at the place. They conversed about the festival he had went to for a while and he asked her about the crowd in town. She shared that her Uncle Tassian had returned from his trip and was opening the museum up himself. People were excited to hear more of his stories and about his travels. After they finished talking he left to find his Fim & Tarzin arguing outside the tavern. The museum was closed and they had planned on finding (PC) Rusty before they got into arguing.   Before they could leave Woodhovel and go into the Abandoned Wood a commotion was heard down the street. It looked like the museum had just opened and everyone, but Rusty, was excited to check it out. He stayed outside as the group walked in to hear a larger man on a mini stage expounding on a story about a some runaway horse and a muddy bride. They recognized the man as Octavius, the man you gifted them the @Star Compass as a prize for winning the conversation. Catching their eye, the older man ceased his storytelling with a promise to continue later and approached the group.   Happy to see their interest in his offer of visiting his "modest business" he asked if there was any sort of assistance or tour they would like. The group had sought out the owner to try and see if they had any insight on the @Star Compass, so they asked him if he knew anything more about the item. They spoke back and forth for a while until Stegon mentioned the north west direction it had been pointing after they messed with it. Intrigued, Octavius asked if they could show him. Since he had not seen it do anything like that when he had owned it. Tarzin had wandered off so Stegon went to get him and Fim went to try and convince Rusty to lend another favor. Upon hearing the request he was not happy. He didn't wish to involve anyone else in his people's ways. Especially with a man like Octavius Tassian who "put my people on display".   Taken aback Fim conceded and went and got the rest of the group to leave because of the "important matters" they needed to get to. But not before Tarzin mentioned the green light and beam it had shot out as well. Though eager to hear more, Octavius said a goodbye to them. Urging them to come and speak again and that he would be willing to pay if they had any more knowledge about the item. The group left into the woods that day, but not before (PC) Rusty visited Kay one last time and told her he was leaving to Homra Harbor. You know, in case her uncle asked.   The group walked a couple days into the woods, (PC) Rusty leading the way. They eventually walked into the camp of the Historical Society Guild, a group of researchers who were exploring the Garudain ruins here. They greeted Rusty and his frien.....teamma......aquantainces with open arms. Rusty asked the camp members their thoughts about Octavius Tassian, if they knew him and what did they think. For the most part everyone seemed to like him. He has his stories from his time as an adventurer, he helped out the town more times then once, he even saved Kay Yoregav and took her in when her parents were killed by bandits. The Historical Society has had problems with his obsession with the Garuda. Being "hostile to the ruins". But other then that he is described as a fine man.   After partaking in lunch with the researchers, the group continued into the forest. Occasionally turning on the Star Compass' light to point them in the right direction. It eventually leads them to the main ruin site. A large hill covered in trees and foliage with the occasional stone structure. Something strange happened to the light as the party approached though. It curved, around the hill, until snaking through a coin sized hole in the hillside. Taking a step forward, Rusty approached the coin hole with the @Star Compass. And as he did the hill opened up to him, revealing a stone hallway hidden behind the grass and dirt.
