5. Attempted Murder on the Orien Express Report

General Summary

It is the 24th of Therendor, 998 YK.

• The party had several days of downtime. In this time, Warden acquired a chain shirt.
• Terfel, Dax' Athla and Warden spend time training the militia.
• Kalshana buys a flute and starts trying to learn it. She also buys some crossbow bolts and donates money to the clinic.
• Terfel visits Iona Perch and Thara d'Jorasco, to inquire about what he thinks is a strange disease in Sharn, based on Lei's Letters.
• Thara told Terfel that what Lei describes seem similar to the stories of Mordain the Fleshweaver, but could be related to the Mourning.
• Iona had some stories about Mordain. After a chat with Warden, Terfel also decided to look into Riedra to learn more about Kalshana's people. Unfortunately, Iona had no books on Sarlona.
• Terfel bought newspapers, getting up to date on the news. He raised the Sharn Inquisitive article Q’barran Settlements Under Siege with the rest of the party.
• The group interrogated Dax' Athla about what is happening in Q'barra. She brought up Masvirik, and how the settlers in Q'barra are weakening it's prison.
• On the 3rd of Eyre, 998 YK, the party went to see Oargev. Terfel asked Oargev if he had any news from Sharn, which Oargev had a bit, but not about the strange mutations. Terfel asked if he could investigate.
• Oargev countered that he had been summoned to Wroat by King Boranel ir'Wynarn. He asked the party to accompany him, which would also put them into a better position to travel to Sharn to investigate.
• On the 4th of Eyre, the party left New Cyre to travel to Starilaskur, to get a Lightning Rail to Wroat, taking Llyr Glas with them.
• On the 8th of Eyre, they arrive in Starilaskur after an uneventful journey.
• None of them had travel papers, so they had to go to the House Sivis enclave to acquire some.
• Oargev purchased Lightning Rail tickets for everyone (very expensive), and they boarded the rail.
• "Welcome aboard this House Orien service to Sharn, calling at Wroat, First Tower and Sharn. If you are travelling first class, meals are included in this journey. Please keep your tickets and travel papers ready for inspection."
• About 14 hours into the journey, at night, there was a scuffle in the next booth over. Terfel went to investigate, and 6 blue hooded figures attacked them.
• Dax got injured in the combat.
• They managed to get 3 of the attackers alive, 3 of them died.
• One of the other passengers fled into the cargo carriage, shouting for guards.
