53. A Series of Unfortunate Events Report

General Summary

5th Therendor, 999 YK

  • The party go to meet with the ir'Nolin family. They first meet with Alphonse ir'Nolin, who seems to be injured. He goes to fetch his parents, and they then meet with Isolde ir'Nolin and Matis ir'Nolin.
  • They get more details on what happened. Alphonse was exercising Antaeranor through the city streets when Sunfeather dive bombed them. Thankfully, Alphonse wasn't injured too badly.
  • The ir'Nolin family isn't actually pushing for Sunfeather to be put down, they want restitution for the death of Antaeranor and they want Sunfeather removed and away from the city.
  • They went to meet the other horses, and Warden spoke to them. They are well treated, happy, and healthy. They had names for each of the party members, which they felt summed them up completely. These names were: Mossman, Cold One, The Beard, and Melody.
  • The horses are also afraid of rabbits.
  • Alphonse is very sad that his favourite horse/best friend is dead.
  • They then go to see Starling d'Vadalis again, and try to get more information.
  • It seems that someone had left a gate unlocked, and even though they are double air-lock designs, it was enough for Sunfeather to escape.
  • Starling takes them to speak to Sunfeather, and translates for them. Sunfeather found an open gate, and managed to force the next gate open. From there he flew over the city, where he doesn't normally get to fly when supervised. From here, he saw a horse and was fascinated, and then his instincts kicked in and he hunted.
  • They inform Starling that the ir'Nolins don't actually plan to have Sunfeather killed, and this calms the handler down some. She still offers for the party to take Sunfeather to Varna if they wish.
  • The party decide to hang around Passage for a few days until the magistrate has dealt with the case.
  • Meanwhile, at Avrahk Mbar'ost, Terfel Glas is disturbed from his work by Daine.
  • Daine leads Terfel out into the courtyard, where a strange, emaciated, yellow-green goblinoid-ish man is pointing at people and yelling in a strange language. He seems inebriated.
  • Terfel approaches and the strange man yells at him, and then after a few moments, seems to slip into perfect Common.
  • The strange man is something called a Gith, specifically a Githyanki, and his name is Kyn.
  • Kyn wields unfathomable cosmic power, specifically based around manipulation of space. He can teleport things.
  • He's also bored and looking for a job. It seems he's retired from the life of being an interdimensional space pirate due to his old age, but he's bored.
  • He's also seen a horse once.
  • He demonstrates his powers, and then takes Terfel to speak to Siebold. First try! If you ignore them landing in Valenar.
  • Siebold sends a sending to the party, who give him their location. He then gives this to Terfel, who gives it to Kyn, who takes Terfel to the party.
  • The party is, of course, wherever Kyn is.
  • They teleport to the party and introduce themselves. After some discussion, they decide to give Kyn a go. He gives each of them a "friendship bracelet", and then teleports back to Avrahk Mbar'ost with Terfel.
  • Kyn sends Patch and Blinky to the party, who are amazed. Unfathomable cosmic power!
  • Kyn recalls Blinky, but has a migraine and is unable to call back Patch...yet. He asks Terfel if he has any booze.
