79. The Dead Come Report

General Summary

12th Barrakas, 999 YK

• They made some last minute preperations to prepare for the onslaught. Lozaal hands out buffs.
• Tete Shaat'aar explains to Dax' Athla how the ritual will work. She'll mimic what he does, and she can expend magical energy to empower the ritual.
• Lozaal Daashor and Kalshana go onto the floor below the apex to hold the line.
• Warden stays outside.
• Once the ritual begins, screams and unsettling wails come from the town. A couple of minutes later, the first of the undead arrive.
• Warden transforms into a Giant Owl and does some flyby attacks on the undead. The skeletons shoot him with their shortbows, and cause him to revert to his normal form and fall 50ft into the zombie horde.
• Warden uses Thunder Step to escape (and kill 2 zombies!), putting himself on the outside window sill of the lighthouse, 30ft up, splayed out like a starfish. He yells for help.
• Dax' Athla instructs Zedd to save Warden, which she does.
• Warden continues to pepper the undead with spells whilst Lozaal Daashor and Kalshana wait inside, and Dax' Athla helps Tete Shaat'aar with the ritual.
• The second wave of undead arrives, including the vampire and ogre zombie that the party saw in the temple of the Sovereign Host, and a host of ghouls.
• The zombies manage to break through the barricade on the lighthouse door and enter. They get caught on the caltrops at the stairs, which arrests their progress.
• The vampire and ogre zombie almost reach the doors, before the end of the session (a short one today!)
