Session 02: The Party Comes Together & The Goblin Hideout Report
General Summary
BARTHEN'S PROVISIONS, PHANDLIN
As Elmar Barthen isn't interested in the scimitars, the group decide to go to the Lionshield Coster to see if they'll purchase the scimitars
Before they leave, Barthen's helpers Ander and Thistle mention that some people in the area have seen a dragon flying through the clouds.
LIONSHIELD COSTER, PHANDALIN
Zephyr is able to sell two scimitars for 10gp
Linene Graywind mentions that her caravan has gone missing and Varis tells of his noble background but Linene jokes about him not looking like it
Varis is offended and threatens Linene but she then threatens to get the whole coster if the party tries anything
She thinks the party could help but is now nervous about their attitudes
STONEHILL INN, PHANDALIN
The trio heads over to the Stonehill Inn where they meet Toblen Stonehill and his family who care for the inn but also Nyx Ningel and Sildar Hallwinter.
Sildar explains that he is a part of the Lord's Alliance which is a partnership of larger merchant cities helping to bring order between the areas
Nyx shares some info that she met Sister Garaele at the Shrine of Luck. She mentioned the Redbrand nuisance ailing the village. Garaele had told her about some banshee named Agatha. Too, Harbin Wester, the townmaster, mentioned about Wyvern Tor where some orcs have apparently been causing trouble. He also said that he's heard that some Redbrands were most recently seen at the tap house.
Sildar also shares some helpful information. First, he and Gundren were captured by some goblins and Klarg is their leader who is in competition with Yeemik. Second, Gundren and his two brothers had a map to the Wave Echo Cave and Sildar wants to help as reopening the mine could help Phandalin prosper. Third, Sildar will pay 500gp if the party can find Gundren and the map who are likely at the Cragmaw Castle where the goblin headquarters is located. Finally, Sildar also explains that his friend Iarno Albrek who is also a part of the Lord's Alliance has been missing for two months. Rumor has it that he was last seen near the Tresendar Manor east of town.
A miner at the inn approaches the party and mentions that he'd like to see the area rid of the Redbrands, orcs and goblins he keeps hearing about. (let alone the rumored dragon)
GOBLIN HIDEOUT
Varis proposes that the party head back to the goblin hideout which the agree to do.
As they carefully make their way this time through the forst they come to a stream flowing out of a cave. They see some dead goblins which are from when Nyx and her friends were last here.
As they enter the cave they see some wolves chained on the right. Zephyr tries to do some animal handling which isn't quite successful.
Nyx proposes they head towards the path on the left as she believes Klarg is to the right and is quite fierce.
