Session 04: A Cabin in the Woods Report

General Summary

CABIN IN THE WOODS

  • Having now moved further into the dark forest, the group carefully makes their way west around a large, stone outcropping that is covered in brush
  • Thaymirr Madison leads the party along the western edge and stirs a giant spider to fight. Three needle blights and one twig blight emerge from the nearby area hearing the commotion of battle
  • Miramenor Starsinger quickly turns into a dire wolf and does massive damage to the giant spider allowing for a bonus attack that unfortunately missed.
  • Eventually the party dispatches the enemies and heads around the northern edge of the stone outcropping
  • Soon the group stumbles upon the dead body of the bandit that recently escaped with the boat at the river's edge. He has what looks like many rope burn types of wounds all over his body that clearly is what killed him.
  • The party notices a small incline that leads to a small, old cabin. The door hangs open slightly allowing them to easily enter.
  • Inside the cabin, a candle is burning next to a very odd armor dummy. The dummy's face wears a blonde wig and its face has makeup like a woman.
  • Thaymirr decides to crack open a small safe on the other side of the cabin and finds 5gp and some woodcarver's tools.
  • He also searches the bed which has a thin, tattered mattress with some odd writing on it. It appears to be a rough map showing their current location but some other location to the northwest.
  • Under the bed, the party finds a crumbled piece of paper that is folded in half. When unfolded, in large poorly written letters it reads ONDI NAYA.
  • Hearing the sound of dripping water below them, Thaymirr continues to search the cabin and notices upon the floor that there is some wetness along the stones lining the floor.
  • In a creative move, he casts to create some water to let it flow along the floor to see if they can find where the dripping is coming from. The sound leads towards the fireplace.
  • A further investigation reveals that the fireplace stones cover up a hidden ladder entrance to a chamber below.
