Session 05: The Chamber Beneath the Cabin Report

General Summary

CABIN IN THE WOODS

With Thaymirr having just discovered the ladder beneath the fireplace in the cabin, the party slowly heads down into the darkness.

Very quickly, the party discovers Luvon and Dilya each locked in what appears to be jail cells. Unfortunately, Dilya is unconscious.

Luvon explains that the three of them hadn't actually gone hunting but had heard about bandits doing strange things in the forest.

Sadly, the three were captured by the bandits and, with heads covered, they were apparently led to this chamber. He has no idea where he is.

It is revealed that Torrieth possibly escaped. The two heard lots of yelling and Torrieth screamed a bit. Men also yelled and there was a lot of slamming noises before things wound up getting quiet. Luvon doesn't know where Torrieth went.

The party notices a strangely lit altar at the northern end of the chamber. The chamber itself appears around 150 years old though the wooden altar seems much newer.

The altar seems a bit hastily created likely from people who did not entirely know what they were doing. What appears to be a sort of cat-like skeleton lies in a roughly put together setting at the center of the altar.

Above the altar in very large and roughly scrawled letters are, again, the words ONDI NAYA. There are no other details explaining what these words mean.

The group decides to investigate the other end of the chamber as they try to figure out a way to release Luvon and Dilya.

They see four dead men laying scattered around the floor just before three giant spiders emerge from the darkness.

The battle with the spiders was fairly straightforward and a search of the dead bodies quickly revealed a rusty key.

The party returns to the cells and Thaymirr Madison restores Dilya to consciousness. She remains very weak but also confused about where she is.

With the keys in hand, they quickly release both Luvon and Dilya. Doric firmly embraces Dilya and even shares some emotion at finding two of the three lost friends.

As the session ended, there remained some mystery about how the giant spiders wound up getting into the chamber at their size
