Session 19: The Clutter Beneath
General Summary
Previous Session: Session 18: Unlikely Allies
The party had descended into the secret basement of the Silk Guild and were killing the bandits, Muda knocking one unconscious on the stairs.
They continued through the large crate-filled room.
The Paladins taking the bandits head-on while Willow fires his longbow from a distance.
Hettle, Muda, and Skha'k kill the bandits by the stairs before joining the Paladins.
With the main room cleared, Muda stuffs the unconscious body from the stairs into a crate.
The party gathers around a single door in the basement and Skha'k picks the lock and opens it, revealing two thugs which take reactionary strikes at Skha'k's face.
Skha'k manages to get away from the door and Hettle charges in past the thugs and into the office, seeing the captain in charge of the operation.
The captain stabs at Hettle with his rapier many times while the thugs hold off the rest of the party at the door.
A well-placed shot with Skha'k's shortbow kills one of the thugs and the party takes the opportunity to flood into the office.
In the end, the bandit captain and the remaining thug are both knocked unconscious, and no bandits remain standing.
The party begins searching basement; Inside the office is a door to another room, along with the captain's desk and a bookshelf.
The desk contains transaction documents between the Silk Guild and Zesto's Finest and an ornate dagger with spider legs around the hilt, similar to the Silk Guild employees
The bookshelf has similar documents to the desk along with some reading material.
Skha'k picks the lock to the other door revealing a bedroom. Inside is a chest containing a large sum of coins, art objects, and bottles of glimmering, red liquid.
A sword of similar style to the dagger is also found in this room, and Willow finds a journal which belongs to the bandit captain, named Kaliban.
The journal contains the ramblings of Kaliban, showing a slow descent into madness from being confined to this basement, and Kaliban's hopes to reach the 'Golden City'
Meanwhile, Muda takes the opportunity in the main room severing the fingers of the dead bandits and placing them into a sack, which he gives to Skha'k as a travel snack.
As Kaliban wakes, Willow charms him and the party begins interrogating; Kaliban tells them that Zesto is the man at the top and is likely at his headquarters in Norlun.
The party then brings Kaliban and the unconscious bandits upstairs and to the guards currently questioning Seramon on what happened.
They tell the guards that Kaliban was the head of the operation and hand him and the other bandits over to the guards before leaving the Silk Guild.
