Session 21: Thief of Good Fortune

General Summary

Previous Session: Session 20: Timara's Champion

  • A radiant, white-blue glow washes over Glen as he is blessed with the gifts of Timara, Mistress of Mischief.
  • He displays this new power by invoking duplicity, causing an illusory clone of himself to appear behind Erlenwald.
  • The Lads leave the ruined temple and head back to the road towards Norlun. They enter the town, electing to go to the Church of Good Fortune first to complete Glen's quest.
  • Once at the Church, the Lads pair-up and enter separately; Glen with Willow, then the Paladins, then Hettle with Muda.
  • Inside the Church they all find a small museum to Halcyon's history, and a confessional-style room prompting those who enter to "wish for luck."
  • Muda enters the Wish for Luck booths and tries different positions asking for luck, with no effect. Finally, he tearfully wishes to see his grandson, but again, to no effect.
  • Soon after, the High Priest of the Church leaves his office and passes the Paladins who get his attention.
  • The High Priest mentions that there is an Immortal Swordsman display in the Church museum, so the Paladins used this to distract him while Glen retrieves the item.
  • Glen enters the office, finding that the door had been left unlocked, while Willow stands guard just outside the door blocking its view from the other Church visitors.
  • Inside the office Glen finds nothing of note, but inside the High Priest's bedroom he finds an ornate wooden chest at the bottom of the bed.
  • Glen shrouds the room in shadow to muffle the noise as he breaks the top of the chest and steals 200 GP, 56 SP, 72 CP, and the precious holy symbol Timara requested.
  • Glen leaves the room and Willow follows him out of the Church - the Paladins, Muda, and Hettle following shortly after.
  • The Lads, except for Muda and Hettle, go to apothecary. Willow gets his green potion appraised as a Potion of Poison Resistance and purchases 2 health potions before the party leaves.
  • Muda and Hettle go to Zesto's and learn about their trinket business, each entering and questioning the receptionist separately.
  • Muda asks if any of the animal trinkets are alive, which they are not, and Hettle asks to order a mechanical owl, which the receptionist tells him may or may not be possible.
  • Afterwards, Muda and Hettle walk towards the housing area behind Zesto's as the rest of the party catches up to them and regroups.
  • Muda tries asking a random person if the party could stay at their house and they angrily tell him to leave, slamming the door on Muda's foot.
  • The party decides to stay at the inn on Guild Street, Ariel's, but before they leave, they are stopped by a dwarf named Agomal Mindrender.
  • Agomal offers them his memory-erasing services, presuming them to be adventurer's in need of removing their traumatic experiences.
  • He then takes notice of Hettle and is awestruck, saying that he had only heard stories of the Warforged from an old Gnome colleague.
  • Everyone declines Agomal's services and he leaves, pointing them in the direction of his shop as he departs.
  • The party is now leaving the residential area and going to the local inn, Ariel's.
