Session 17: Silk Guild 2
General Summary
Previous Session: Session 16: Hettle, Ace Attorney Willow finishes copying down the page of Zesto transactions, and the Lads start leaving the Silk Guild. They slowly open the door to the front lobby and cross the balcony to the bedrooms one by one. Skha'k and Willow manage to reach the bedrooms, but Glen notices the waterskin on his waist become undone before the others can make it. He attempts to catch it before it hits the ground, but the sudden creaking of the wood balcony draws the attention of the guild supervisor. The guards begin running to each set of stairs yelling for the party to stop where they are. Muda quickly leaps over the railing and onto the supervisor, slamming down on them with his maul. Glen follows suit and leaps over the banister, his boots connecting with the supervisor's head. The guards move back to the supervisor's desk and engage. Hettle leaps over the railing and stabs at one of the guards with his rapier before Glen gives the guard a deathly touch and decomposes them. Skha'k, meanwhile, runs down the stairs and out the front door, where Erlenwald, Jaraleto, and Louis have arrived, having heard the sounds of fighting. The paladins tell Skha'k to get back in the building, which he does, throwing a dagger into the other guard's head. With the supervisor heavily weakened, Muda hits him with a few palm strikes to the head, knocking him unconscious. Louis and the paladins enter the guild; the paladins are horrified at the sight of the decomposed body. Glen attempts to bind the supervisor with rope, simply wrapping it 20 times around the supervisor's arms without tying a knot. Muda takes the supervisor's rope belt, wraps it around his head, silencing him, and then pulls the large hood down, acting like a sack. Hettle helps Muda get the supervisor onto his shoulders. The respite is only momentary, as Louis hears footsteps approaching, and several guild members enter from the bedrooms. Glen quickly jumps from the desk and up to the balcony, casting Spirit Guardians, and tiny hammers flit through the air around him. The members approach Glen with scimitars with spider legs adorning the hilt. The spirit hammers pelt each guild member as they attack Glen, but his Warhammer and Hettle's Heat Metal spell are enough to kill them. The last guild member enters to see the carnage and quickly returns to the bedrooms. The party soon flees the building with the supervisor's unconscious body to the cart. As inconspicuously as possible, the Lads take their horses and cart to the Norlun gate of Mariam. The lack of pedestrians wandering the midnight streets makes getting to the gate easy. Once there, a guard stops them, suspicious of them leaving at such a late hour. Jaraleto explains that he and Erlenwald are paladins of the Order of the Immortal Sword, and the other members are their acolytes. He tells the guard the reason for leaving is 'paladin business,' which the guard is suspicious of, but does believe them to be who they say and trusts them. The guard has the gate opened, and the Lads are allowed to leave, quickening their pace as they get further from the village. After an hour of travelling down the road, the Lads stop the cart and take the now-conscious supervisor out. The Lads get out of the cart and prepare to question him. Suddenly, Jaraleto is hit by a crossbow bolt as 9 bandits emerge from the brush. Combat begins as the bandits converge on the party. Louis sends his protector turret into the fray, shielding his allies. The paladins protect themselves with their Shields of Faith and Muda invokes his tattoos, growing four times his size. Hettle inspires Glen and casts Heat Metal on a bandit's mace, and Glen summons the hammer Spirit Guardians of Bane to batter down the bandits. Next Session: Session 18: Unlikely Allies
