Session 20: Mad Packs: Furys Abode

General Summary

We opened the scene outside the Old Man's Face bar, after calming residents whom were attacking each other. Colmir had to investigate a disturbance in a nearby Druids Grove, and Solas was given an urgent call from Helm; however, Helm seemed to understand the necessity of Solas, and pre-emptively sent Corvus from Minroe to come and assist the party. As Fury ran amok at the end of The Bowshot Run; the party discussed chasing down the two wyverns individually;
Fury relocated however to the ranch and started attacking the horses at the Shadowshield Grove Ranch; but too far to directly prevent, however, in the distance, a band of Werewolves erupted from the trees to attack Fury.
After a little more discussion, the party opted to attempt to assist the werewolves; but unable to make up the ground before Fury took out several of the pack, and even Ironfang dropped before Fury left them behind to fly east.
Leaving the werewolves to their own devices, they were shortly caught up by Ironfang after getting his attention; A plan was formulated, A strategy devised, Wyverns must be Fury's Children We should go kill children
Ironfang vociferously agreed, although to keep this PG, and a little less disturbing add in the missing words of his vocabulary in brackets, repeated the cry to "Go F**k (up by killing them) Children!" to the reasonable distress of the party.
Approaching the northern Campground of Tyrluk, the party observed a band of Purple Dragons defending themselves against a small group of merchants and diplomats of some kind; and observed that this campground is where outsiders to Tyrluk congregate rather than attempt the limited rooms and hospitality of the Old Man's Face. A peculiarity of the town that outsiders and locals tend not to mingle and instead a gated off community for those visiting.
However, these musings aside the dragons were clearly trying to avoid hurting anyone, but upon approach, a gnome dressed in a bright yellow cloak, turned rabid, and charged the party; A quick thinking Lucky cast Sleep and dropped the crazed gang in one fell swoop, however, Ironfang was already on his way and tore the gnome to shreds, holding up the lifeless mutilated body with pride, "I f**ked this (small person) up!" thoroughly enjoying the murder.
Corvus also attempted a strategy of "Pick up a giant werewolf and fly with it" - but only succeeded in tickling Ironfang under the armpits.
The party spoke to the swordcaptain of the Purple Dragons, whom thanked them for the assist, but could not see the Wyvern, raising questions as to why the party could, but the others couldn't.
The Swordcaptain took his men to Duskfall Manor to check on the status of the Lord of this village, Lord Barlam Duskfall and the party engaged the Wyvern as it descended shortly after when the party took its toys away.
The party leapt into action, and charged down the wyvern, Bob leaping over beds and tents to engage the landed wyvern along with the gleeful Ironfang; Corvus empowered by his god, floated over the campground to deliver a hammerstrike, whilst Ironfang bit and clawed away, and Dofaroc hammered into the wyvern with his axe; Out of a tent, a Halfling crawled out, enraged like the others and started to attack Dofaroc from behind. As they worked down the Wyvern, Fury descended from above activating a fearful presence that affected only Corvus, and with fear he descended and ran as far as he could through the ground, his first experience with the giant wyvern.
However, as the wyvern died, and Dofaroc turned and split the halfling attacking him in half to Ironfangs encouragement; "Aye, ye putting the boot in, none of this namby pamby shite!"
Fury however, opted to retreat from the scene upon the death of the smaller Wyvern, leaving the party behind. Corvus recovering, feared the Harbinger was trying to lure them away from the village warned that maybe its a trap.
Agreeing with this, the party decided to hunt down the next Wyvern; and headed south.
South east they headed; to the unusual Sharragh Bridge signposted; a large oak tree over the river by the graveyard extended its roots over the river wide and curled to form a natural(?) bridge.
The wyvern circled the graveyard, yet nobody could be seen.
Corvus and Dofaroc came up with a plan independently without consulting with the party, to use his steps of night to lift Dofaroc into the sky - a slightly lighter load than Ironfang; To the confused and concerned stares - 200ft in the sky Corvus and Dofaroc ascended under the storm dim skies, this got the wyverns attention and it attacked, knocking Dofaroc unconscious with its poison.
The concerned and despairing, and impotent party watched on as the Corvus and Dofaroc enacted their plan, as Dofaroc, awakened by the healing aura of Corvus; launched himself at the Wyvern in mid-air.
The Wyvern flapped backwards a touch; Dofaroc careered off into empty space and plummeted to the ground; Ironfang leapt forward to catch him, successfully doing so, but even his immense strength couldn't slow the descend down, breaking Dofaroc unconscious once more, and injuring the Loup Garou (who instantly started mending the damage naturally).
In a desperate effort to salvage the insane plan, Corvus grappled the beast in the air, forcing it to plummet to the ground; where the party were finally able to get into melee range and once again provide the opportunity for the loup garou to decapitate yet another Wyvern.
Wyverns down, the party went back into town, to note the riots and fighting had died down, people apologising, and bandaging the wounds, several lay dead, and grief over the attack set in. The party decided it was time to track down the Purple Dragons, and headed to Duskfall Manor.
They were greeted by the whole contingent of Dragons, and a severe looking man in his late forties/early fifties with neatly arranged greying hair and brown suit with a cravat.
Explaining what they had done, and evidenced, by dragging the corpse of the wyvern, now visible into the courtyard; the party were graciously thanked for their efforts, Lucky smartly invented a new name, recognising that its possible the name "Stormhorn Guardians" might well be a red flag as current event dictated they were enemies of the crown.
Thanking the "Knights Three" (or four depending on who you ask). The party were offered to recooperate at the manor, and enjoy dinner with the Lord and his family, whom believed he could absolutely utilise the wyvern as wyvern steaks as long as you avoid the poison sacs near the tail (like Dragon shaped Puffer Fish).
Lord Barlam Duskfall indicated a small chapel of Helm was in the manor for Corvus, and also several rooms could be made available in the western wing of the house. Led by the elderly servant Tarv, the friendly but slightly grumpy head butler to their rooms, the party started to relax.
However, meanwhile, Lucky rested and noted a shadow under the door, as if someone was crouched low. Bursting the door open, he was greeted by a teenage girl only slightly younger than him, in a blue velvet jacket, and brown riding trousers.
Challenging her, she confessed that she was trying to find out who you all were, seeming quite sheltered and excited by the guests.
Aelira wanted him to teach her something - and Lucky obliged and the sparred in his bedroom; Aelira showing surprising level of college of swords technique as they both showed high level of skill. Drunk and surprised by the sounds of fighting, Bob charged into the room, only to find his instant attack repelled, and almost disarmed as she parried the axe down and stood on it, whilst elbowing poor Bob in the face. Enraged and requiring calming down, Dofaroc nearly swung again, but the voice of reason not to embed an axe into the face of the Hosts own daughter prevailed.
As she left, she indicated dinner would be served in 15 minutes, leaving the party wonder what actually just happened, but seemingly honoured guests for their work saving the village of Tyrluk.
Next week we catch up with the party, in Session 21: Let the Duskfall, When it Crumbles
