Session 24: The Assault Report

General Summary

The Party gets their house, and Chieftess Ag'gona gives Bubbles a +1 Javelin of Lightning (10ft wide line underwater). Bubbles then spends the week training and raising troop morale, gaining a point of inspiration.

Virion Sylvenne, meanwhile, registers for councilman as a Loyalist (intent on spoilering Lankus Kurrid's vote) explictly to win over Guildmistress Vidirico's favor. He then carouses in Seaton and meets the following:

  • Marino de Saltmarsh, a minor Saltmarsh fishing noble.
  • Mx. Cucharæ Oweland, Eda Oweland's nibling. ("Cucharæ" is a gender-neutral spelling of "Cuchara", which means spoon).
  • Duke Marik Feldren himself, who offers Virion a powerful allyship.

Virion ensures the mass grave is taken care of

Uk-thin Rolsar meets Dr. Jenaro Cauce, who is a flat earther and planning to construct a rope bridge across the chasm under the Tower of Zenopus.

They then get a Letter of Recommendation from Virion and head to Seaton. At the library they learn the following:
  • Rolsar Stronghold was Keoland's first dwarven stronghold constructed in the colonies, with construction beginning in 26 IA
  • Ministre Uldarike was the first dwarf shaped in the Stronghold circa 27 IA and was made out of stone from Mount Lumrendi, an expensive investment for the clan. They quickly became an insular and contraversial spiritual leader after they succeeded the previous Ministre at the young age of 35

Mister Mister - a lawyer working for Aubreck Drallion - represents Melody in court, who despite Mister Mister's best efforts (or perhaps because of them) is exiled to the North with three days water and rations. Virion is tense and paralyzed.

The Briefing begins on the 34th of Silver, the day after Melody's trial. Lt. Sylvenne, Lt. Mystan, Hunter Bubbles. and Ensign Rolsar are going to be a sneaking in strike force. They are each given a Potion of Invisibility and Potion of Gaseous Form.

Breaching behind the portcullis, the party does silence and fireball and then kills the remaining Sea Devils. Lt. Sylvenne's bladesong is oddly out of tune, however. Nonethless, the portcullis is opened, but only after they napalm the hallway and kill everyone, while Bubbles and Mystan hold the enemy off.

They push into area nine, two by two. Mystan and Bubbles in the front with Uk-thin and Virion in the back. They end up baiting enemies into hallways, using Spirt Guardians and Magic Missile to annihilate enemies. Throughout the fight, Virion casts many fireballs while Bubbles crits a bunch too.

Blademaster Makaht is in the barracks, with a bunch of troops. He sends a bunch of grunts to flank, staying with his elite troops to fight the party. Bubbles uses Action Surge to assault the Blademaster after felling two of his soldiers - his armor blocks on both attacks. Makaht attacks Virion, crying "Well then Bladesinger, DANCE!"

Makaht asks Virion to give him the best he's got, and Virion points as if to thrust with his sword, only to cast fireball (for the third time)! Immediately, Makaht and the other sea devil die.
