Session 12 - The Harvest Festival Part 2 Report
General Summary
As the party make plans for luring Hazirawn towards Uriel's tower, and subsequently into the traps, Duke appears having disabled two of the mercenaries that entered his tavern (one having been thrown out the window). He stares down Hazirawn, and the players fail to convince him that they are agreeing to work for him willingly, but under duress (none of them are able to say it outright that they are happy with the arrangement, but also, Icarus gestures towards the other villagers currently being detained by some mercenaries). So Duke decides to take things into his own hands, revealing his k'tan powers in the process, smacking down Hazirawn and knocking back the other mercenaries standing around the party; giving them the opportunity to get to safety.
Duke tells them to get into the tavern, and tells Icarus to protect his friends. This is his fight, not theirs. But if anything should happen to him, they are to run to Uriel. They stand and watch Duke engage in combat with Hjarn, the mercenary commander. After a brief, intense exchange, Duke is clearly coming out on top. But, befre Duke is able to finish his opponent Hazirawn casts a spell in him, preventing him being able to move, allowing Hjarn time to disable him by breaking his peg leg, leaving Duke unable to walk or run. At this point, the party decide to join the fray, with Gux, two water elementals and eventually Garret joining the fray. It is a bloody fight, with the majority of the mercenaries losing their lives, but the enemies numbers are just too much as one by one, the player characters and their allied NPC's fall to the arrows and blades of their opponents.
- Icarus fell to the blows of Hazirawn, as he accidentally collided with him as he was invisible.
- Darnalore surrenders after healing Ophellia and herself after she was seriously wounded. (she entered the dying condition but managed to heal later)
- Ophellia defiantly fought till her dying breath, deciding to go down swinging than surrender.
- Asog fought till the death, attempting to save Ophellia and Darnalore from the mercenaries surrounding them.
- Zolv fell to the arrows of the mercenaries, as he was pelting Hjarn with attacks at range. After falling unconsious, he fell off the roof of the Duke's Gambit.
- The player characters are allowed to long rest their character sheets and remove all exhaustion they picked up during the combat.
- Any items they consumed are gone, but any new items (such as the ones picked up by Icarus in Uriel's tower) are still on their person.
- Ophellia's subclass potion is restored, as it is an ability not an item, but she must keep the version she had previously rolled for.
