Édafos the Dark Age

A Dungeons & Dragons 5e game In the world of Édafos
May 2017 | Full
It has been over a millenium since 'The Great Calamity', an apocalyptic event which forced all races on the continents of East-Edin and West-Edin to the brink of extinction. The elves, graceful and wise, have lost their immortality and have retreated to their realms of forests and snow. Some have fled this world entirely. The stout and stubborn folk of stone, the dwarves, are now a reclusive race as they hide in their fortress-cities under the mountains. The Elves and Dwarves blamed Man for this event. The dwarves heartbroken by this betrayel closed their cities and ignored the humans that begged for their aid. The elves enraged and confused declared war on mankind for the loss of their eternal lives. Mankind had lost six kingdoms, along with its names, cultures and kings. After the Great Calamity the human kings were blamed for the onslaught by both the elves and their subjects. The Noble houses and its subjects forged an alliance with the now mortal elves, if mankind would tear away their monarchy there would be no open war between elves and mankind. The treaty that united the elves with the human subjects was known as 'The Electrum Accord'. Within the first decade of the new age a new realm was formed, named Astra. Astra has made a great effort for the last thousand years to rebuild the once ruined and nameless kingdom, offering vast rewards for prospectors, explorers and adventurers that share their findings. Tension has risen between Astra and the country to the south, as Amn has reïnstated a monarchy. For over fourty years the war has raged between the two realms and the key to Amn conquering Astra is the city known as Baldur's Gate. During the last battle at Baldur's Gate both sides suffered heavy losses as Amn held the wall for a full week. But the counter attack was swift and Astra re-took the wall. It is the year 1208 Post Calamity, and it has been three years since the 'Battle of the Burning Gate'. Amn seems to have seized their attacks and the Sovereign of Astra and the nobles keep a watchful eye on the south.
