C2S7: Two Stand Alone (write-up)

General Summary

Tracing Torinn

  Carric stood alone with Taowhiri. The dying branches, weeds and bracken slowly encroaching upon them. The onset of Torinn's madness was so sudden and Carric was ready to abandon his companions, but Tao still stood there. Looking down the road, staring after Senlin in pursuit of the mad wizard.   Tao took the lead and hatched a plan take Ismark Kolyanovich out of the question. Stop the grieving man from killing Torinn. It may give them one last chance to convince the him to change his ways. Managing to distract Ismark in the wood through use of faerie fire, using his rage against him, they duo found Torinn's tracks and rushed back towards Castle Ravenloft in pursuit.   Back at the crossroads and the cursed horse and carriage, they found the resolute Senlin searching for his lost companion, who had used a minor illusion to give him the slip. They realised Torinn must have fled towards the Castle. As they argued next steps, a dusk elf, Rahadin, with psychic, tortured screams emanating from his presence arrived to thank the trio for so kindly delivering Ireena to his lord and master, Count Strahd von Zarovich. He asked the party to take their time to calm down after an emotional affair, and that if they acted graciously in the master's land that they might receive a wedding invitation in time. Rahadin thanked the party for their time and departed on his skeletal steed.   Shortly after this, they were joined once by Ismark. After convincing him that he was in no state, burned and broken, to reach the castle, Ismark and Senlin agreed to wait at the carriage.  

Catching Torinn

  Far up towards the Castle, Tao and Carric managed to track the sorcerer down as he snuck on the slopes and parry his blows. Carric told him “you have one last change... please stop this madness... think of your father.” But Torinn did not listen.   Entangled, knocked out, bound and gagged, they dragged Torinn back towards the crossroads looking for a place to rest before they confronted Ismark and Senlin. Resting in the nook of a small cliff they held their breath as four large beasts wandered by. Dire wolves. The pack traveled towards the crossroad, but Carric could not fight - Senlin and Issmark would have to hold their own.   Carric and Taowhiri concocted a plan to get Torinn back to Vallaki and into a cell. Carric scouted forward in the shape of a panther. Senlin and Ismark were both badly wounded, and as Tao approached, Torinn on his back, the duo hoped their plan would work...
