Session 28: I've Got An Extra Ten Feet of Movement

General Summary

Returning to J'Dira's house, the party slept, keeping watch while J'Dira went out to the pub, talking up an apple-sized emerald she had acquired in the hopes it would draw the thief's attention. Other than J'Dira returning on Doug's watch, the party didn't hear anything.   The following day, the party kept things quiet, expecting the thief to strike the night after hearing the rumour. Around 2 AM, the party heard someone try to enter the door. Tamugar had put sand in the hinge, so it opened noisily, so the intruder shut the door after opening it only slightly. Climbing up the trunk on the outside, the thief turned invisible, leaving a small leather bag on the bedroom floor, and then climbed across the ceiling of the main floor, reaching for the emerald, though Doug managed to grab it back.   Becoming visible, the thief attacked, making it out the door but quickly getting chased down and knocked unconscious. Dragged back to J'Dira's house and tied up, J'Dira confirmed that she was indeed Nahlia. She was wearing some magical fingerless leather gloves and magical boots, which Doug removed and identified as Boots of Elvenkind and Gloves of Thievery. Waking, she seemed to have no idea of where she was or what she'd been doing, though she did admit the gloves and boots were hers, kept in a chest under her bed. Her last memory was of getting into bed with a copy of Muses of the Mind, by the Telnari poet Landrasar, a gift from her late husband. Believing her story, the group fetched Robassi, who returned with Zareza, the female guard from the previous day.   Under questioning, Nahlia also admitted she'd found a number of items in her storage room, including a statue of Taranath, but she couldn't remember acquiring any of them. With Rome lifting the chair with a bound Nahlia over her head, the group left to investigate her house.
