world-building -modules module template copy copyable child-world

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I think a 'template' or copyable world would be really cool. In the sense of, lets say I write a module. I use World Anvil to organize notes, info on NPCs and locations and such. Now if others want to use my module, they also could import the world into their own world anvil, and just add notes to it going further. So they pretty much can meet a NPC, as a DM I already have all the pre-generated notes loaded in, and all Im adding is what the characters interactions were. But all the NPC info is right on that page, linked to other articles, making for really cohesive notes. Then you are combining the prewritten world with the notes of your individual session, without needing to retype things liek character backgrounds, that could just be imported from someone who already wrote it.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Currently as far as I am aware this feature doesnt exist. It would have to be where players mark their world as copyable, and maybe it even credits the original Author, while still allowing for new notes.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Would be good for copying/distributing worlds for modules or intended to be shared. Players in a group could use it to copy notes from their DM, while maintaing their own page. The sharing of the world would be definable by the author

The parent/child world system would as phrased likely support exactly what you're asking for here. The suggestion was already linked below, but here is a clickable version: Link

Is searching for existing suggestions before suggesting something difficult? There's a semi accepted suggestion of this already:   "Child Worlds" suggestion: https://www.worldanvil.com/community/voting/suggestion/cbbb80fe-93b1-48ba-92c1-772f4407845d/view
