What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, many images, especially those who are longer instead of wide don't make for good article header images. Currently if I have a longer image and want to make it an article header I have to crop it myself and upload the same image twice, to make it look coherent.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
This feature would allow for article headers to be a crop from other previously uploaded image. It would save the double uploading and still allow for articles to have a fitting cover image. Hope this makes sense! <3
Follow up
Just thought I'd add that by "uploading it twice" I'm referring to taking an image that will be part of the article in another matter, be it character portrait or landscape etc, and once upload it fully to use in the article and then have to upload a cropped version to use as an article header since the regular image does not work well. takes up more image storage and also ofc is more work. just thought I'd elaborate incase it wasn't clear. thanks!
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! We're not against this but there isn't enough support for image manipulation at this point.
