Alphabetical Sort Function in Article

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The ability to reorder and sort articles within their categories quickly and easily. Eg, alphabetically, date created / last modified are the two obvious ones. Sorting articles manually takes a long time and is frustrating to do.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

It would simplify and speed up the process of sorting articles, making it less frustrating, and enabling us to focus more on the more productive aspects of world building.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Having articles sorted alphabetically makes it so much easier to find the articles we need. Having them sorted by date makes it easier to go back to the most recently created articles.   Example of why it would be helpful:   I am creating a large family, and am constantly havign to flick from one member to another to add references, links, and other information. I can't keep everybody's tab open, because that would be even more difficult to navigate. So I need to be able to find out people I have created quickly and easily, which I cannot do when they are in a seemingly random order.

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! As of a recent update, articles are now automatically sorted in alphabetical order (unless you have set a specific order manually). If you have previously set a manual order and you want to sort a category alphabetically, you can do so from the Articles interface:
  1. Click the category on the left
  2. On the right, click "Advanced options"
  3. Click on the "Order articles [A-Z]" button and while for a moment while the system processes it. Note that if the category is very large, the process might be unreliable.
