Map legend support, a list with the pins used and option to describe them

maps legend pins

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I use colors on my markers to tell which subscription group they belong to, so people can get an idea what they want. But I have not find a good way to tell what the colors mean. I can do in writing as a legend, but that feature is ugly. I want to be able to use the images of the pins.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

If you can get easy access to the images you can make an article as a legend, which you can add to the legend-part on the map. If it can be autogenerated based on your map(s), even better. A list with the pins and option to write a description beside it.

What are other uses for this feature request?

I can't think of any other use.

Follow up

As SoulLink has pointed out, you can use which I did not find when I searched for possible way to do a legend. Thank you, that was a great feature. There are still no way to to a legend to the map though, as far as I know, that is not plain text placed over the map. And a little automation is always nice :-)
I'm sorry. I didn't want to offend anyone. The Legend I found is placed on top of the map, covering it, not on a space of it, of with an on/off option. I hope I'm wrong here and I missed something - because if it is covering the map, it is ugly, sorry, but I find no other wording for it that would be nicer, and I can't ask for a chance unless I can tell what's the problem with the current. But I'll return to the current legend function and see if I misunderstood something.
I must add that what you see of the legend edition it is a completely different animal than what you see when you view the map in an article. I didn't know that. i didn't get that far. I experimented with the legend in the map section only and sorry, but a big black box over everything was not appealing. It looks much nicer when embedded. So, my apoliges. It was a missunderstanding.

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! The legend field is BBCode enabled, which means that you can use the [pin] tag (as well as any other supported icons and BBCode tags) to create a custom legend. So we are declining this suggestion because there is already a system to achieve this result. If you don't like how it looks, as a Guild member you can use CSS to tweak how pretty much anything looks in your world.   I would also like to point out that saying that a feature is "ugly" to the people who developed it is not the best wording. We're people too and were uncomfortable with your phrasing there. I encourage you to find more appropriate ways to phrase your discontent or critique in the future. Thanks for understanding!
