serialized-manuscripts manuscripts
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, the manuscript landing page for all manuscripts only shows recently published manuscripts. This decreases visibility for serialized content or long-form manuscripts that are not yet complete. I have already seen some serialized content creators making a new manuscript for each chapter to circumvent this, which seems like it could get confusing for readers and authors trying to keep track of where they are.
Most platforms for serialized work I've been on (both original and fanwork) include both recently published and recently updated work on their search landing pages, so splitting the current manuscript page in half or adding more space under recently published would better support authors publishing by chapter rather than all at once.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
It would increase visibility for serialized or otherwise chapter-by-chapter manuscripts by having them appear on the landing page when updated and not just when initially published.
What are other uses for this feature request?
This is mostly for authors, but it can also help readers see more works they might enjoy.
Aside - I know with the current way manuscript chapters are set up this might be much more work than it seems like on the surface, so if it's simply not feasible, I understand.
The Team's Response
Hello there :) Although the idea is good and it means well, this can be SO very easily be gamed and will cause more distress as it is suggested above than good. Having said that there should be valid way to recognise actually updated Manuscripts and it does worth investigation, I am open to ideas.
