According to Miriam Webster's dictionnary a kingdom is "a politically organized community or major territorial unit having a monarchical form of government headed by a king or queen" Note "King or queen", a queendom is the "state or territory ruled by a queen" or "The position of a queen" according to the same source. It is, in effect, a synonym. As for the "But what if a country has no bother with gender or is female dominated?" part, I understand the intent, however in international politics (Which is where the "Name" of a political situation such as a kingdom comes in) the few adapt to the language of the many ; It is frankly laughable to think a single kingdom could force every single other kingdom, empire or so on into changing the way they refer to them on every map and in every official document. Especially as this could cause heavy confusion from the political staff, and also cause plenty of "Well we're a goblindom then!" "And we're a centaurdom!" and so on. I think a simple solution is to include a small line in your description of your kingdom to say "Oh btw, they refer to themselves as a queendom, not a kingdom, and they expect others to do the same." just as you would if, say, you had a "Feydom" or a "Gnolldom".
I'm putting in points because the most recent Fire Emblem game has a Queendom showing game developers are branching out as well.
Hm. I never thought about that. I agree with the sentiment, but I think we should just change the name of kingdom to monarchy or something else that's gender neutral.
Kingdom: a country, state, or territory ruled by a king or queen It has no Connotation to it being KINGdom or QUEENdom Plus from a standpoint of that dropdown list of things.. don't you think we have enough ? I feel you can just State that the Kingdom of XYZ is run by Females.. would not detract from anything.. or OR.... the Title of the Article that has the template of a Kingdom.. could read " Queendom of XYZ" simple and less to convolute
The options already have "Kingdom" and "Vicekingdom". It's crazy to me that some people seem to mind the idea of "Queendom" as much as they appear to here?
A monarchy is a monarchy regardless of the sex of the ruler. Same thing for a republic or democracy where most/all of the representatives are women instead of men.
I would assume that nation's with no gender bias for rulers could just be a monarchy.
I don't disagree, but then, what about domains that don't care about the sex/gender of the ruler ? Kingdom ? Queendom ? Rulerdom ? Royaldom ? I kind of feel it would open some kind of pandora's box. Unless there's the ability to create custom geopolitcs.
