Allow us to create 'Types"

When creating a settlement or npc with a profession or anything of that nature that you would label with what type it is or what profession they are the available options dont always fit into what you are trying to create. Why not make it an option to create a new "Type" or profession

This allows for the maximum amount of options for the authors without requiring the staff of WA to come up with any possible imaginable type or profession that people would like to fit into their world. I've seen a popular suggestion to add freelancer as a profession for example, but there are infinite number of professions or types of a settlement someone might want to add so let us create and define our own.

This not only allows for the most custominzation, but would allow the staff to not have to consider more possible options and most of those suggestions for a random profession could be pushed aside or uneccesary as you can make your own. This could also go the same for categories.

The Team's Response

Thankns for the suggestion! Accepted for investigation, and if implemented it would be available to Grandmasters and above. This was already suggested in the past—please check previous suggestions before opening new ones

I have no doubt this has been asked before. Do I still want this? Yes.

There are loads of types my setting calls for that an aren't standard and aren't included. I would love this.

Being able to specify the list of subtypes for each type would be nice. There are some items that just don't fit into the categories that WA offers; WA is built for fantasy RPG, and there is very little support for futuristic RPG campaigns, with many things that futuristic RPGs fit into that don't exist in a fantasy-themed setting (and so they aren't on the list).

Not everyone wants to mess with code, and besides, it'd be nice not to have to to begin with. The lists are already so long to be unwieldy in some places, too.

Some others have pointed to a solution with the Key and value BBCode command. Doing this just seems unnecessary.

Saves time for the staff and adds functionality to non-code-minded people? Yes please!

Just because it's possible to do with code doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to have it in the GUI. Especially if you could also delete types from the list in a Type Quick Editor.

Letting anyone add items to the dropdown lists for types would quickly make the entire list unmanageable. (Even if it was only per user, that's going to become a feature role, for example the user would want to delete mistakes, etc.) I think the current solution of using key::value is good.
