What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Mind maps have consistently been a tool many worldbuilders have used at least some point in their life, as a tool for organizing thoughts, or a tool meant to be presented itself. Though whiteboards are fun and can accomplish — mostly — the same thing, it's tedious and has to all be done by hand. Though content trees exist, they're limited in how they can be customized (the content only ever stretches down, and each subcategory can't be interconnected to another). Family trees exist, but their commands only exist with character articles. Nothing to say these features are bad.How does this feature request address the current situation?
Mind maps, I would argue, would serve to provide a) a range of tools wide enough to mark itself apart from the other features and feel distinct and b) add another tool that can be used for authors to better organize and more effectively think about certain aspects of their world(s).What are other uses for this feature request?
Mind maps can be used for more than just figuring stuff out. They are used for things similar to what content trees are used for, and it even follows the same structure that "tech trees" from strategy games use, for the more gamey authors who want to outline and show off stuff like that.Final Thoughts
