I like to have a lot of @ references inside my articles. It keeps them organized and easy to navigate for me and the players. My only issue is if I have several new articles that need to reference each other. I'm forced to create all of my empty articles upfront so I can reference them in each of their descriptions.   This usually leads me to end up focusing on a bunch of article titles as opposed to filling each article with proper prose, description, history, and character.   So based on my experience as a programmer working with Visual Studio. Just make it so that if there is no available for provided text, give the option to generate an empty article in some folder . It would also be great if this quick-generated article was added to the to-do list automatically.   This would really help with how quickly I'm able to pump out a bunch of articles since I can prioritize actually writing out important articles without getting sidetracked.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! Declined for technical reasons. As a work around, I suggest using the purple button (click the plus button at the bottom right, then the purple inkwell icon) to create articles and link to them on the fly. The purple button will also get an update in the future to make the workflow more agile.

A lot of people were saying this was already a thing, but unless I am missing something, I think that is only partly true. Yes, we can Name to generate a stub, but that stub does not actually generate an appropriately titled article that can be properly referenced immediately. Instead, you have to save the article, view it, click on the new link, edit the article name, and then save. Why not just have the current system generate an article with the given name immediately?

Got to thank this thread for making me realise it was already a thing and that I needed it. Definitely works in the Euclid editor and since I've found out how to do it, I am using it a lot...

Not actually a supportive vote, but @New Article(Template Type Here) is the code people keep suggesting and it's not showing up. https://www.worldanvil.com/w/WorldAnvilCodex/a/mention-system goes into further details

Yeah, you can already do this, it's described in the "tips and hints" text underneath the vignette. By writing @, name, and then writing the template between parenthesis you can make a new article and link it in one go.

This is already possible! You can create it by typing Name and it gets automatically added to the ToDo-List. Im not onehundred percent sure if it works in both editors, but if you go to your account and then interface, you can switch your editor out to the Euclid-Editor, there it's definitely possible.
