As many have noted, this is already doable with the system as is, both with Timelines and the newer Chronicles.   For the expressed desire, you are better off using Timelines and using a combination of negative UTD and Alternative Display Dates

Hi there! If you add a new historical entry, you can use the "Alternative Display Name" Option under advanced options, so that the exact date you put in won't be shown in the timeline, but rather anything you put into that field :)
