Category-to-Child-Article Cover Image Display in Chronicle Markers

article cover image chronicle chronos linked marker map

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

While the new Chronos update has pushed Chronicles to world builders (an amazing system, I am obligated to admit/praise), there are a few features lacking, but the one that draws my attention immediately are the cover image-less articles when linked to map markers.   When linked to a map marker, if the article itself does not have a cover image assigned to it, it will show only the default world page cover image. This is fine is there is no cover image period, but when you assign cover images through Category > Display > DEFAULT ARTICLE CATEGORY COVER and choose a cover image for all child articles, none of those articles have a cover image when linked to the marker.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

While it's wonderful that linked articles show their cover images at all, it would be better if it reached just one step up and pulled it from the category if applicable.   While I'm unfamiliar with the back-end coding/structure of WA, I'd imagine placing something of a "marker" or variable in place of where the article cover image sits would help; a pointer or redirector of sorts, pushing to the category the article is the child of only if the marker/pointer reads true (again, being wholly ignorant to how it's set up back-end I can't say this is even smart or helpful, I'd say it's potentially a good choice if it's structured even remotely this way).

What are other uses for this feature request?

Mainly beautifying the experience of GMs and players alike, but it would help with the back-end slog of adding to each and every article an image.

Follow up

I don't believe I was clear. This hasn't been amended. I did point out some issues I found to Xuroth (wonderful person), but he suggested to add it as a suggestion/feature request here.   When you set a category to give a default cover image to child articles, that works fine on the site proper.   However, the issue is when you link an article to a pin/marker on the Chronicle maps. If you link the article, it only gives the default image of the site overall. If you give an article its own cover image (i.e. specify a cover image under the "Design" section) that does display.   My request is that category-assigned cover images, not the ones on the articles themselves, be represented to marker/pin-linked articles.

This is probably just an oversight.

I use category cover image all the times and the map marker thing annoys me. I wish I could put more than 300 coins behind this, this is the best suggestion I've seen in at least a month.
