Maps -Privacy -Subscriber-Groups Map-Layer
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, I am running an exploration heavy campaign in which my players are exploring a map, hex by hex, and I am using subscriber groups to control which pins they can see as they explore the map. I wish I could have a layer/view of the map in presentation mode filtered to only show pins with a specific subscriber group, so that I can project the map on my TV for my players to see as they explore the map, without revealing more than I need to.
One of my campaign players is a co-owner of the world, as we are sharing the world to run separate campaigns in the same setting (pathfinder). So, he can see all the pins anyways, so I would like an option to set the initial subscriber group view when seeing the map, so at least he won't see it all by default.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
My idea is to use the radio buttons section on the top of the layer menu in the top right corner of the map page for the subscriber group view. As shown like in the image below.
I'm not sure what the base radio button is being used for, or if there are already plans in place to use it for something esle. But my idea would be to automatically include a radio button for any subscriber groups used on map pins. This feature might only be useful for map owners (particularly GMs), or maps which use multiple subscriber groups.
As for setting the default subscriber group view, that could be done by adding an option in the display and privacy settings.
What are other uses for this feature request?
This feature is mostly useful to GMs that project their map onto a screen for their players to see, or GMs that share a world with another GM. So beyond that, I'm honestly not sure.
The Team's Response
Good idea! Accepted for the next version of maps—it won't work exactly as you described it, but it will address this point. Thanks for the suggestion!
