feature profile badge community-event event
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
I've recently delved more into the community events on World Anvil over the last year. One thing that I've noticed is a surprising number of Unofficial Badges and challenges for certain events, such as Summer Camp 2023. I didn't know about many of these badges and unofficial community events until this year when I started seeing others use the badges on their Summer Camp pledge pages. I felt like I had missed out on something, not knowing about these.
I would like to propose adding a page to the user profile for Community Badges or Unofficial Badges, that is separate of the official badges page, which is customizable, rather than statically assigned by the WA moderators. Here, users could paste the image blocks for community badges they have acquired such as the Camp Chill 2023, or Dewy Diamonds badges.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
An additional drop-down option or a separate page under the Badges drop-down on the profile page would allow users to add custom text lines to include community badge blocks directly onto their user profile. This would allow others access to see community involvement and share ideas, even when no associated with a formal WA event.
What are other uses for this feature request?
First and foremost, I think this would be a great way to further encourage community bonding and community development. Guests could see additional community involvement that authors have engage in. I know for me, I was unaware of some of the community badges until I started seeing them on other authors pages. It would help new authors connect with community events and make better collaborative relationships across the site.
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! While we absolutely love the unofficial badges that have popped up during Summer Camp (and before, with unofficial community-run challenges), adding a page for them would make them official. Therefore, we're declining this suggestion.
