Music files from Dropbox (and any other files as well)

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I would like to inbed a music file of original work to my World's opening page. My music is in files on Dropbox

How does this feature request address the current situation?

I have a concept CD I composed that is the musical outline of my WIP and I would really like the ability to have relavent songs auto play when certain articles are opened.

What are other uses for this feature request?

There are other files people use with Dropbox and the ability to import them here would be helpful.

Follow up

I agree, I want a button in place to start the music NOT Auto play. I have all my music files on dropbox and don't really want to upload them all to SoundCloud or another platform just to be able to download them AGAIN here.

The Team's Response

Certainly no to autoplay, Dropsbox does not allow direct access to files.

Yes to a dropbox option. ABSOLUTELY NOT to autoplay, ever.

A thousand times not to autoplay. Adding music can already be done by uploading your music as a private video on youtube, or publically on soundcloud or spotify.

As SoulLink said, this would be too huge of a task for the WA team to implement and would a raise concerns with copyright if some were to use music of another person without their consent.

This is very, very complex to implement and could have all sorts of copyright issues.   There are like 5 platforms to upload and publish audio to that you can embed on World Anvil. You should use one of those!

Great idea, and I quite support most of it, but I must add my voice to the folks saying 'no autoplay' - I usually am on the computer at the dead of night, when other people are nearby and need sleep for work in the morning. Autoplay has a bad tendency of starting at full freakin' volume, and I do not need to be accidentally waking people just because I clicked on an article.   So in short: Embedding/porting music over from Dropbox, absolutely. But good stars no autoplay.

This is a great idea for the most part, but ABSOLUTELY NO AUTOPLAY. Autoplay sucks when you already have music playing, or if you have a slow connection because it makes the page taker forever to load (and sometimes it never even loads completely because of autoplay).

This could be fun, but please, please, please, do not "autoplay" the music. I'm already playing my own music and I'll quickly click away from a page that starts making noise over that. Give people the option to listen if they want to.
