If you make the mistake of writing a full article out on an adhd hyperfocus fueled kick of motivation and you click back to your article pages before the autosave pops up you lose all your work which is awful. plus its never a negative to have some redundancy in this kind of thing
there's already save buttons on a lot of things and it always makes me feel safer to save it actively just in case.
it'd also let me save myself from crying after losing my work
I would normally vote this higher, but I do know that there are ways to manually re-add the save button for any guild members through CSS. Though I do think having a save button makes sense (hence why I have it on mine)
I will forever hope for the return of manual save... but I know it'll never happen. I've lost three whole articles thanks to auto save :(
Sometimes the autosave icon doesn't show up because of connection issues (which, connection issues from power lines going down is not a bug, and cannot be fixed with code), and having a manual save I can use would be good for peace of mind, because then I'll know if stuff is actually going through or not.
The save function can be quite buggy in general. Even in Quick Edit, the automatic save sometimes deletes paragraphs. I've lost whole paragraphs multiple times, which is very annoying and demotivating.
The little bits and pieces of my sould that are left yearn for this.
Removing the manual save function was a negative in literally every possible way for end users, and the autosave is buggy as all hell, but unfortunately this has been requested multiple times and they always deny it (without explaining why). Still upvoting though because maybe they'll eventually either listen or explain why they won't do it!
I do, on principle, agree with this, however I think this has been suggested and denied before.
Not sure why they removed it. Like you said, even if it's redundant it doesn't hurt to also have a direct save button.
This used to be a thing, until the devs decided to take it away from us.
