What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I think it's awesome that we have class creation tools (at least for 5e), but I feel like it's putting the cart before the horse a little bit. I know when I started worldbuilding, the idea of creating an entire class was very daunting, but I've made several subclasses for my world because its a lot more digestable but I can't connect them to my world here.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

This will just add another way to tie a character into your world through their subclass which is also connected to your world. This would be a pretty simple implimentation for most purposes(obviously there are some more complicated and nuanced subclasses which will require some flexibility on the part of the creator).

What are other uses for this feature request?

This could also be a simpler way to get an idea for a class down before diving into the creation aspect of a class.

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! If by "class creation tools" you mean the 5e class statblock, you could use it to create subclasses too (as subclasses are just ordered lists of abilities). In any case, statblocks are community-created, which means that their maintenance and improvement is usually not handled by the World Anvil devs. Any Grandmaster can create new statblock templates (as long as they have technical knowledge in HTML, CSS, and TWIG). You can learn more in this guide.   If you weren't referring to statblocks, feel free to email me at [email protected] to clarify what you mean and we'll be happy to look into this again!
