What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
With the present implementation of Chronicles, you must start completely from scratch by uploading a new map and creating new events. Since in many cases users may already have an existing map with markers placed on it and may have a timeline of events with the dates set out, needing to create it all again is needless duplication. Further, having them exist seperately like this mean the user has to edit it in multiple places to keep it consistent.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
As stated above, since the different elements of the Chronicle--the map and the timeline/events--may already exist within the user's world, it would be preferable to dynamically link them. That way, updates to the map (such as adding new markers) automatically populate to the Chronicle and adjustments to the timeline events are also reflected.
This reduces duplication and avoids the user having to update the same information in multiple locations in the world. It just streamlines the whole process.
What are other uses for this feature request?
None come to mind, since this is fairly specific to Chronicles.
Follow up
As others have brought up, it seems this has already come up in suggestions and is somewhere on the Chronicles roadmap, which I was unaware of.
The Team's Response
Thanks for the suggestion! This is already planned—chronicles, timelines, and maps will be integrated in the planned time update. We don't know when the update will happen yet, although it can't be before Atlas (the next maps update) due to technical reasons.
