I think below where you have the art title and the artist name there should be a second line description and this second second line should have a drop down menu.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of what the drop down options would be
(and they can be perhaps rephrased, I don't know legalese)
This art is public domain
This art was created by the author
This art was used with the artist's explicit permission
This art is is used through a stock image agreement
The art was purchased is owned by the author via commission
This art is credited to the artist but there was no communication between the author and artist
This artist or creator this image is unknown
And if nothing is selected on the image, the second line should probably be blank.
I use a lot of public domain art for historical stuff and it's hard to credit the author when the author has been dead for two hundred years, so we definitely need a public domain option. What about Ancient Greek Vase art, you will never know the author's name. Do you have to credit the museum the vase is in or is it public domain.
I don't know what the World Anvil rules on movie and TV screen shots is. A few of my articles have headers from Monty Python and the Holy Grail credited to Monty Python. Another article uses a Sesame Street still (for humor). Is that okay within the World Anvil rules? If so, media screen shots should probably be a category.
What about popular memes of unknown origin? That could probably use a category.
My article on slavery has a picture of old shackles from a museum. I credited the museum the shackle is in. That should probably a category for real world artifacts.
Follow up
I didn't mean they should implement everything I say verbatim. I just wanted clearer rules and the ability to demonstrate publicly how well you are following the rules.
