Article Adding-Family Character-Article Template-Article -Organization-Article

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Right now, if you create a character article, and want to create a new article for a new family member for them using the embedded "create a new article and link it" function under the family section, the article created defaults to an organization template, not a character/person template.     Put simply, when you create a new family member article using this feature, the article should DEFAULT to being a person, not an organization. I'm not sure if I'm using this feature different to everyone else, but generally when I want to create and link a new family member, I'm referring to a specific individual, not an organization, so it seems strange the article I would create defaults to being for an organization.    To give a clear example, I created a character and wanted to create a new article for her son. I used the "create a new article and link it" function while creating the mother's article, and his article defaulted to an organization's template, so I've had to manually delete that article and instead create a new character article for him and go back to his mother's page to link it.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

This would correct the new family member's article from defaulting to an organization to a character, which seems far more intuitive and make it easier to create and add new family members to a character's article.

What are other uses for this feature request?

This seems like a pretty narrow change- I'm not sure if its working as intended currently and people generally use the button to add family organizations, but it makes far more sense to me that this feature would be used to create a character article rather than an organizational one.

The Team's Response

Hello there :) Families are indeed organizations so the link does go where it should :)

Like others said, "Family" is meant to represent the family they are a part of (i.e. the Smiths, the royal family of X kingdom, etc.), not their family members; that is why you're only able to link one. Actual family members can be listed in Family Ties under the Social tab.

Family is an organization - it links where it should.

The "family" section is meant to be an organization. You'll see there are sections in the organization template that talk about family groups.

Icould be wrong, but I think that the "family" section is meant to represent the family (a.k.a. organization) the character is a part of. Under "relationships", you have the option to create and link articles for specific family members. Those default to the character template.
