URL Redirect on images to allow @ article linking

New Feature Addition · Images & image management · Created by kaixabu

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently, the Link URL (URL redirect) only allows for full URL addresses. It would be great if we could use an article link instead.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Allows for smooth transitions when renaming articles (or slug changes).

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! It's a good idea, so this has been added to our long-term backlog. As a fun aside, the devs had expressions of utter shock when seeing the BBCode workaround Those2Nerds and nnie mentioned (but hey, if it works!)

There's a bb code workaround with @[[img:#|nolink]](id), where you make a mention and switch out the title of the mention with the image bb code. I see those2nerds already mentioned that, but seems like the bb code got parsed upon commenting.

I heavily use the link URL and would love if it could use article mentions. Might be tricky to support both direct URL or article mention, but if it's doable, it'd be a huge help.   An inconvenient alternative is to use bbcode when inserting your image to put it inside the article mention:
