Icons Color Organization

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

So it's not as if we didnt have quite a few icons, but when you get down to it, there is so much more that we could have with not so much effort added as far as I know. Icons are THE most important thing to keep things organized in a visual way, and having restrictions leads me and I would think quite a few other users to develop workaround about it, but is that necessary? On the exact same page I can find RPG Awesome Icons there is so much more that I could use, but WA doesn't recognize them. And Font Awesome Icons has a whole bunch too, but there is a lot that isn't there. I will put the examples where this feature has been a pain to get around.
I have a tab which is called "Equipment" where everything that is wearable in my world is, there isn't a single icon for an arm, having then to use "robotic arm" for something that is clearly not meant to go there, now to not give the pain I will give a list of things I need that are not part of the summarized icons we have access to:
- Arms
- Back (cloaks, capes)
- Slings
- Slingshots
- Darts
- Variety of Shields
- Flails
- Quarterstaffs
- Variety of Helmets (such as leather caps, hats like sallets and such)
- Variety of Boots (Leather, cloth, medieval shoes and more)
- Hand equipment, such as gloves (metal, leather and cloth)
- Chest armor variety (there's just "vest")

And really there is SO much more to list there, but I just went over 1 of my folders which are about 40, I'd say I have an icon that works well about 50% of the times, which hey, it's not bad at all, but I would love to have it be closer to 80% or even be 100% which is very hard, of course, I can give some reccomendations of packs if devs want me to, though I do not want to clutter it too much, but in Iconduck.com there is so many icons that fit WA style perfectly. I'd love for that to be introduced here, we could even get colors if it were a possibility which would be amazing to tierize stuff, such as with let's say flowers, there is common flowers, uncommons, and so on, a chromatic icon system would help a LOT too and make WA even a greater tool for writters, as well as DM's and video game creators.

Uh! very interesting, thank you so much, I did not know wabout the map icons at all :)

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! Keep in mind that, the more icon packs we load on the website, the longer every single page will take to load, which is why we're declining this. The decision to choose FontAwesome and RPG-Awesome as the icon libraries you can use wasn't random; they're the libraries that we also use for various UI elements. Since we were loading them anyway, we decided to let you use them as well. But we won't be adding a new library. That being said, a couple of tips that might help!
  • Map icons can be used as icons (within article contents, not in the title). This means if you create a custom map pin, you can technically create your own custom icons: here's how to create custom pins and the list of pins with their icon codes (note you might need to refresh this one multiple times for all icon images to load)
  • Colors are already possible with all FontAwesome and RPG-Awesome icons! If you use them in a BBCode-enabled field, just use the color tags as you would with regular text. Here's how.
  • If you mean the icon in the article title, you can use CSS to specifically target the icon and change its colors with the "color" CSS property. The following CSS snippet will make article title icons red:
  .user-css .article-title-icon {
color: red;
}   You can make it specific to a single article by adding it to the article's CSS field. For more questions regarding CSS, I suggest you join our Discord server and ask in the #css-help channel!

    Putting some points in, but more so than having additional icon resources added I'd love a way to add and use my own icons. The CSS way isn't satisfactory as it has its share of issues with aligning, sizing etc.
