tags tagged-list tagged icons icon fontawesome design identification decorative decoration identify article
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The main reason for making this request is to have tagged articles lists also call the fontawesome design icon for that article.
Some use article design icons for identification purposes, eg: to note articles that are about a region of the world that has a particular terrain. It's a really useful additional layer of information given in a quick visual way.
Whilst a category TOC can be used to call a list of titles that includes these icons, you're forced to choose between a list that has to include everything in that category, or changing the category of some things to avoid having them in that list. It's very inflexible.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
If tagged lists also called the icon alongside the title, it would allow the great flexibility of use that tagged lists afford us, and in addition, allow us to use the icons for the purposes of identification, all in that one list.
For example, if I wanted a list of...
- all the regions in my world, I could use a category TOC
- the regions in my world that are inhabited, I could use a tagged list
- the regions that are inhabited, simultaneously identified by terrain type through the article design icons, I could use a tagged list that also calls the design icon of each article
What are other uses for this feature request?
It would give continuity to the use of article design icons: they would always be called, no matter how one does it.
Even if only used for decorative purposes, the icons would decorate that title consistently, wherever the title is called into a list. Even links to that article within text would also include the icon.
