Separate Manuscript Subscription Option

While you can currently subscribe to worlds/users to get notifications on manuscripts, I'm sure a lot of readers might only want to see updates to a manuscript and not all possible notifications from the author and their page.   To this end, I think it would be beneficial to add a feature for users to subscribe to manuscript updates separately from user/WA page subscriptions.    This could help authors get more eyes on chapter updates without having to publish chapters as a separate work (to show up on the new manuscript page) by sending notifications to those interested in their manuscript but not necessarily wanting to subscribe to their person/page. It could also help users wanting to keep track of stories they're enjoying without adding more page/user subscriptions than they can handle.

Follow up

In line with DMFW, I also envisioned a one-time type of notification - either only when a new chapter is "published" (since it can be made public before being published) or through a manual notification button. Since the goal is to cut down on unwanted notifications, I definitely wouldn't want to suggest a feature that would push updates for every minor edit.

The Team's Response

This is already possible if you are you are following the USER that published the manuscript

I'm curious about using world anvil as an option to other online reading subscription platforms. I could see this being useful.

I'm not quite sure I understand how updates are going to be posted to subscribers. Presumably, in addition to a separate subscriber list, there would be a function to notify updates? Or do you envisage the act of making part of the manuscript public as pushing the notification? One thing you certainly don't want, is every minor edit generating a push. I think I favour one new "notify" button at manuscript level to only be fired manually (like article updates). And with that said, it could be a useful feature.
