pricing affordability lifeline makingadifference savinglives subscription cost proposal feature discussion
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The ability to "pay-to-own" a lifetime membership, as they already price out a good majority of the globe & counting---with inflation, etc---would be such an incredible opportunity for those of low-to-no means. A good is example is a milennial who, like myself, has just lost her job & never had the opportunity to go for a college degree. I realized quickly that WA is the only thing holding me together and keeping me getting through the days. Its a legitimate lifeline. I will definitely not be able to afford another year when my sub is up, let alone, anything more. All that work and dedication: up in smoke. It's given me multiple panic attacks already. It's so heartbreaking. Depressions, recessions, coronavirus isolation, crushing loneliness and lack of resources affect so many of us anymore. A program or other way to effectively lease would be invaluable for people who have only ever know being broke. For example, the sage; even on a sale, I've never seen or had that much money together at once in my life. It's so incredibly demoralizing & its definitely worth more than the last-legs, ancient junker I drive in. There are so many in situations like that; creative types who've finally found their place just to see it slip away. This is a plea of mercy, a cry for help, for at least honest consideration.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
It makes world-building more accessible to passionate-but-poor, creative roleplaying enthusiasts. It gives a platform and gives the opportunity to save the worlds one has built when a sub expires. According to pew research studies, 10 years ago, the likeliness of suicide has nearly doubled. One study shows that, for example, men were 3x more likely than women to take their own lives. Today, it's 5x. The number is also growing for women and sexual minorities. This lease-style initiative could literally save lives.
What are other uses for this feature request?
Aside from saving and/or enhancing the lives of the languishing downtrodden, it could make for an attractive promotion and increase interest from those outsiders who've never stood a chance and especially those long-bereft of hope.
