Change Sexuality to Orientation or something like that

I feel like this is a small ask so I don't think this will get all that much votes, but under the mental category of the character template could 'sexuality' be change to orientation? That or have two separate options for 'sexual orientation' and 'romantic orientation'?   Just in case I'm not being clear enough:   I want this changed
Into something like this:
Or this:

Follow up

Several comments have raised the same point and I find myself agreeing. I suggested this because there wasn't anything about romantic orientation, and while I been using the sexuality option to add it, I felt that it would be nice to have a separate option for it. It's less that I don't like it being called sexuality, but more that I feel that it doesn't include romantic orientation. So I suppose a third option for this would be leaving sexuality the same and just adding 'Romantic Orientation' below it.
I feel like the title ended up slightly misleading. Something like 'add romantic orientation in character template' is more what I was trying to suggest. I feel it's important to have that as an option alongside sexuality even if it's not used by everybody - I didn't realise there was a difference between sexual and romantic orientation before I saw a character profile that included it as an option. That's why I prefer it as an option instead of expanding on it on my own, though the option to do so shouldn't be removed. A comment said that could potentially happen and I don't want that.

The Team's Response

[SOMEWHAT ACCEPTED]   It goes without saying this was a pretty contentious suggestion that the community feels very strongly for.   Reading through the suggestions I think the middle ground was given by amanachan (thank you).   I will rename the field to "Sexual/romantic orientation" which will cover both cases and will not add more fields that increase complexity for something that can easy be addressed by one.   I will kindly remind every one of you amazing beans that this is a a place of creativity and not politics of any kind <3   Keep it cool-beans!   Also - Happy Holidays!

I see no reason to cange 'sexuality' into 'sexual orientation', as Gamez wrote, the latter is a sub-function of the first, and the change would not broaden the category but narrow it.   However, I do think that adding the 'romantic orientation' is a good idea, and I would love to see it happen. I very much support what is proposed in the 'follow up' segment:)

Yes!!! I'm biromantic and asexual, and it always bugs me when sexual and romantic attraction get lumped together when they don't necessarily go hand-in-hand.

As others have said already, there's no real reason to change this, however, I also feel like I should point out, as the others have, where sexuality is and romantic/non-romantic partner. If you go to a character's "MENTAL" just below "EMPLOYMENT" and above "ACCOMPLISHMENTS & ACHIEVEMENTS" you'll find "SEXUALITY". With partners there's a tab called "RELATIONSHIPS", there you can give your character the partner they have. I really hope this has helped.

Hm. I get where you're coming from, but I feel like changing the name from "sexuality" to "sexual/romantic orientation" would be the more simple option. It does cover both without expanding the already massive character template and is less confusing. (I guess a lot of people see no disconnect between those two orientations, and it still would prompt you to think about it)

As a bisexual/aromantic person, this is not supported with the existing setup and some change would be appreciated. Sexual and romantic orientations are not equivalent, and it's good to see them separated.

Don't see a reason for this. The category can cover both and can just be explained in the text field.

I agree the current template fields make it difficult to represent people who are not sexually attracted to anyone without title-content dissonance.

As stated below, this feels like an unneeded and potentially negative change as It can be easily achieved in the current setup but options would be removed with this change

As others have said, the fields of sexuality, gender identity, and pronouns already exist and serve a purpose including this. You haven't even said why you want this change.   Inclusion is super important, obviously, but this is such a nitpick and, again, you haven't even given a reason for the change. As Hanhula said, there are already ways to make your own subheading or section to elaborate on a person's orientation.

Changing it to Orientation would be alright. I already put both romantic and sexual orientation in the field, whenever a character has a different romantic orientation from their sexual one, but it'd be nice if the terminology would have this accuracy update.

What you ask can already be done through Sexuality, Gender Identity, and Pronouns

As a diversity and inclusion activist, I find this question and request quite exciting, and regardless I congratulate the author for discussing a topic of importance.   Sexual orientation is a sub-function of sexuality. Therefore I'm afraid I have to disagree that the field should in itself augmented from sexuality to sexual orientation.   With the above stated, adding perhaps another box to make adding sexual orientation more accessible would be a positive move.   In summary, no changes but add a new field.

Sexuality is fine as it is. You can use that field to write their sexual orientation, then for any characters that you want to expand this on, use a --key::value-- field (for sidebar) or use subheadings (for main page) to explain further.

Orientation by itself makes no sense, We already have
  • Sexuality
  • Gender Identity
  • Pronouns
  • I believe that this is more than enough to identify someone's gender identity and views.

Oh! I like this idea as not everyone is "sexually" attracted to someone or feels any form of libido. I would prefer option number two, where you could choose between "sexual orientation" and "romantic orientation."
