Linking Accessibility
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently there are no possibility of refering/linking to a particular headline of an article. I would like to add links that would navigate one to a particular area of an article. As an example, I have an organisation article about a specific organised religion, within that article I have a section about their tenets of faith. I would like to, in other article, create a link that doesn't just refer to the organisation article, but to the tenets of faith. There are a lot of snippets of articles that aren't big enough to be their own article, and should continue to be part of larger articles, but are far enough down, that linking to the over all article seems wrong.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
By adding this feature you can link to the relevant passages of articles rather than linking to the whole article.
What are other uses for this feature request?
This feature could be used in a multitude of things, do you want to refer directly to the morality of a character? Link to that headline; want to highlight the architecture of a city? Link to that headline; the climax of a story? Link to that headline!
There are so many times this would be a useful feature, and the fact that the list of contents have usable links for headlines indicate the possiblity of making them generally referable outside of the particular article.
Follow up
As both Pete Nelson and WriterV has pointed out ancors are a thing (that I didn't know about, eventhough I've been on that particular page 100s of times, so that's an oversight form my side).
I still think it would be nice if they were easilier implementable than what ancors are, as it can be a bothersome process having to go to the source article, write in the anchor, copy the link to the article, and then link to the article with the case-sensitive anchor-#.
The Team's Response
Thanks for your suggestion! We agree this would be a great feature to have, although we don't know how to do it yet so we're accepting it for investigation.
